Organisers of the eighth international symposium on live subtitling and accessibility, to be held in Barcelona in April 2023, are on the look-out for presentation proposals.

The symposium, last convened in April 2020 as an online-only event, will bring together professionals and academics in widely varying fields from parliamentary and legal reporting to translation and interpreting, media, engineering, cognitive science and artificial intelligence. It offers a platform for the exchange of experiences and insights on work and training practices as well as innovative research projects.

The scientific committee behind the event, to be hosted by the Autonomous University of Barcelona, has published a wide-ranging, non-exhaustive list of topic ideas for presentations, which will be 15 minutes in length and included in panel sessions with time for discussion. Potential topics include parliamentary subtitling, legislation and standards, interlingual live subtitling and diversity and inclusion best practice.

The deadline for submission of proposals is 30 November 2022. For more details visit https://jornades.uab.cat/livesubtitling/
